About

Upside Down is a coffee, art, and community space owned and operated by
Jews for Jesus, designed to serve the community of Westwood Village and UCLA.

Since 2019, the cafe has operated by donation, and most of the events are free to the public. Spaces owned by religious groups are typically either not opened to the public, or not really a space you want to be, and we wanted to change that.

We love flipping preconceived ideas on their heads – hence the name. For example, a donation-based coffee shop, or being Jewish and following Jesus. Flipping things can be fun!

Our hope is that each time you walk in from our upside down world, things get put right side up in some way.

first podcast episode.

Most of our staff are Jewish people who believe in Jesus as the Jewish Messiah. We say that we are 100% Jewish & 100% Christian, the two are not mutually exclusive.

What does it mean to be a “Jew for Jesus”?

There are no set prices, and there is no pressure to give any specific amount. All donations go right back into keeping Upside Down operational, so we can continue serving our local neighborhood.

What does “donation-based” mean?
