Home

HOME is the place you journey from and to. It can be as impermanent as a tent settlement of the unhoused. It can be an empty chair at the table where the head of the house once sat, but who is no longer there. Home is not necessarily a geographic location, but a place of transition into the “new normal” in which we embrace the tension of seeking and wandering.

In Jewish tradition, the journey from Egypt to the Promised Land was not just a matter of distance, but of the old self to the true self, from distrust of God to trust in Him.

How can we, like the ancient Israelites, learn to live in sukkot (temporary housing) while finding our true selves? Where are you encamped along the way of your spiritual journey?
